I just received the product/plan update from Blue Shield announcing their 2014 Individual and Family Plans.  An interesting change to the rating structure is that instead of using “age-banded” rates where rates are based on an age group such as 40-49, they are now based on your actual age.

So back to using Laura’s rates as a comparison point, I’m currently paying $145 per month for a 3300 PPO deductible plan (Anthem)…. The least expensive plan from Blue Shield available (Catastrophic/Get Covered) is $245.87 per month.

I have not seen rates from Anthem yet but I’ll keep you posted!
