California Effort is Underway to Allow Undocumented Immigrants to Buy Healthcare Coverage

California would be the first state in the nation to ask the federal government to allow immigrants in the country illegally to purchase health insurance through a state exchange under new proposed legislation.

Covered California and VSP® Vision Care have partnered to offer consumers a pathway to vision coverage. Beginning February 16, consumers will have access to shop for VSP vision benefits.

Overview of the full service plan offered by VSP to Covered California participants:

  • $15 exam copay/$25 glasses copay
    • Single vision, lined bifocal, or lined trifocal lenses when glasses are selected versus contact lenses
    • $120 frame allowance or contact lens allowance
    • Contact lens – the fitting and evaluation is fully covered with no copay, allowing members to use their full allowance toward the purchase of contacts

Medicare Annual Enrollment Period Ends Today!

Medicare’s Annual Election Period ends today, December 7th.  If you have not yet made changes to your plan or enrolled – today is the deadline!

For individuals/families, December 15th is the deadline to enroll for coverage beginning January 1, 2016.

Please note these important dates for 2016 health insurance marketplace enrollment:

  • December 15, 2015: Last day to enroll in or change plans for new coverage to start January 1, 2016
  • January 1, 2016: 2016 coverage starts for those who enroll or change plans by December 15.
